Suzanne Boles is an award-winning freelance journalist, business writer and communications consultant. Suzanne was formerly assistant editor of London Magazine and contributing editor for Your Convenience Manager magazine. Her work has appeared in Reader's Digest, Maclean's, Profit Magazine, Today's Parent, Your Convenience Manager, conveniencecentral.ca, Franchise Canada, Octane, Your Foodservice Manager, London City Life, London Magazine, The Business Times, Today's Seniors, London Business Magazine, The London Free Press, Canadian Grocer, WOW (The Word On Women), straightgoods.com, and more. Suzanne's monthly column "After 5" appeared in London Magazine from 1996 until 1998. From 1998 to 1999 she was responsible for writing the magazine's "Frontlines" section and a business magazine website information feature. Other work has included a feature column for The Reporter (London, Ontario) and guest columns for other newspapers. Suzanne has provided writing, editing, communications consulting, and media relations for a variety of clients including TechAlliance, Financial Strategies Group, The University of Western Ontario (UWO) Faculty of Law, 3M Canada, The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, Earth Day Canada, The Victorian Order of Nurses - Middlesex-Elgin Branch, London Interfaith Counselling Centre, London Health Sciences, The City of London, Thames Valley Children's Centre, National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (USA), SHARCNET (high performance computing research network, UWO) and a wide range of small businesses. Prior to freelancing, Suzanne was editor of a southwestern Ontario weekly newspaper, reporter at the Sarnia Gazette and editor of three newsletters for The University of Western Ontario. She holds an Honours degree from The University of Western Ontario and a BA in English from York University. Suzanne is Past President of The Professional Writer's Association of Canada (PWAC), and was formerly the organization's President, VP and Ontario Regional Director. She is currently website administrator for PWAC's London & Southwestern Ontario Chapter (www.pwaclondon.org) and has also held the positions of chapter President, VP, membership chair and newsletter editor. She is also a member of the Canadian Freelancers Union (CFU) and Cassell Network of Writers (CNW). She is a former member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and was co-editor of the chapter's electronic newsletter, IABC Connect, for three years. She received an IABC Virtuoso Award of Excellence for features and editorial writing in 2001, and an Award of Merit for her newsletter entry in 2002. She has mentored many new writers, taught Freelance Journalism at Fanshawe College and UWO, as well as a credit course - Writing for Publication - for the university's Writing and Rhetoric program .
